Memory Disorders Support Groups
The diagnosis of a memory disorder can be a daunting experience for both the caregiver and the patient. The Center for Memory and Motion offers a variety of support groups for those patients and caregivers who are in different stages of the diagnosis.
Men’s Support Group
This group is dedicated to the male caregivers in the community who are caring for a loved one with dementia. This group is not limited to only spouses, but also includes those who care for mothers as well.
Early Diagnosed Support Group
This support group is unique in that it designated for both the caregiver and their recently diagnosed loved one. All attendees meet as a group at first and then splits into two supports groups: one for the caregiver and one for the early diagnosed loved one. This allows each person to share their experiences and converse with others who are going through similar challenges.
Caregivers for Alzheimera’s Disease Support Group
This support group is for those who are a caregiver for a loved one with Alzheimera’s disease. Caregivers with loved ones with Alzheimera’s disease can often find themselves needing extra support in their lives. At this group, caregivers will be able to find a network of people who understand the daily challenges Alzheimer’s caregivers face.
To help accommodate those caregivers who are unable to go to the support group at the Center for Memory and Motion, additional supports are also held in Sebastian, Gifford and at Indian River Estates in West Vero Beach.
