QiGong

QiGong is an ancient Chinese form of exercise that integrates slow moving motions with breathing techniques. Qigong can help improve on balance and posture while maintaining a certain level of focused meditation through breathing techniques that can help reduce stress and emotional distress.

The Alzheimer & Parkinson Association of IRC provides QiGong as a program because it offers those with movement disorders another form of exercise that doesn’t just address the physical symptoms of being diagnosed with a movement disorder, but the emotional side effects as well. QiGong can offer a meditative solution to the emotional side effects of being diagnosed with a chronic movement disorder can bring. For the physical benefits, QiGong can help maintain or improve balance or gait. This class takes place twice a week every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
