Memory Screenings
What is a Memory Screening? A Memory Screening is a series of tasks and questions that takes place in a private setting.It takes approximately 20-30 minutes.Upon completion, the participant will receive a copy of the results to give to their physician.Early detection can assist your physician with a diagnosis, care plan and treatment. Who should have a memory screening? Anyone over the age of 50 should have a baseline memory screening as part of their regular yearly checkup, along with heart-rate, blood pressure and temperature. Call to schedule an appointment for a free and confidential screening.

We offer an art class every Monday during our social respite program. This program begins at 1:00pm and usually last until 2:00pm. We create colorful art projects ranging from sculpture to watercolor, collage to paper mache'!Â

This support group is for those that have Essential Tremor and are looking to connect with others who are facing the same diagnosis and challenges. In partnership with HopeNet, this support group meets in person as well as on Zoom with others in the nation with Essential Tremor that features guest speakers and experts on ET. It utilizes music, dance, laughter, and motion to promote physical and emotional well being. Caregivers are welcome to join in and participate in the program also. This program takes place every Wednesday at our Indian River Shores location at 11:30 a.m. and every Friday at our Vero Beach location at 1:00 p.m.

Chair Yoga is a great movement program for those with movement disorders as well as their caregivers. This program involves stretching, breathing techniques, improving balance and is a great tool to relieve stress. The program was designed especially for seniors and those with movement disorders. Every Wednesday at 3:00 pm.

The Alzheimer and Parkinson Association hosts an Alzheimer’s Disease Support Group once a month on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 2:00 p.m. This group is facilitated by Vicki Drumheller MS, RN, BC, CCM and focuses on support and education through the journey of caregiving for someone with Alzheimer’s disease or other types of dementia.

Those diagnosed with movement disorders sometimes fear memory loss is soon to follow. This class was designed to teach those with movement disorders techniques on how to keep their memory sharp through the use of brain games, mental stimulation, and fun! The diagnosis of a memory disorder can be a daunting experience for both the caregiver and the patient. This can be especially true when your loved on is in a facility. This support group is unique in that it is designated for a caregiver whose loved one is in an facility. This group meets on Zoom every month on the third Tuesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. please call for Zoom details if interested in attending.

Dementia Live® Is a high impact, dementia simulation experience that immerses participants into life with dementia, resulting in a deeper understanding of what it’s like to live with cognitive impairment and sensory change. Caregivers, professionals and individuals will better understand the hardships and confusion that occurs for a person with dementia. This method helps build sensitivity and provides another prospective for those who care for a loved one with dementia. It also discusses the different ways we can adjust the way we communicate with those diagnosed with dementia and how to achieve the best outcome when communicating with them.
